VILLAGE DEVELOPMENT

The trust has excuted the services will effect from May 2017 in different villages comes under Gollahalli Panchayat viz expansion of village roads, street lights overhead water tanks , playground & park , library books & building for water purification plant. Besides , the trust has provided clothes , food materials & medicines to the flood effected areas of Chennai in December 2015

Several developmental activities have been taken up by the Trust in fulfilling its objective of village development.

The narrow approach road has been widened and repaired for a distance of about 1/2 km. and the storm water drain repaired

A piece of land earmarked by the government for the activities of the villagers is being developed with permission, as a play ground for children and a place for walking and relaxation for the elderly in the village

A few local villagers have been provided employment at the Service Centre of the Trust

Local youth groups have volunteered to render service at the Centre

Free coaching classes to children of the village (all grades) are being held

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT ACTIVITIES

A free six month course on tailoring was conducted for the women of Arjunabettahalli and surrounding villages. About 30 women were given training to learn the fundamentals of sartorial skills. On completion of the course they were provided with sewing machines to set up their own little domestic tailoring units.

Mr. Alexei Ivanov, our donor from Moscow, graciously distributed the sewing machines in a special function organized on January 14, 2015. On this occasion, we had the honour of the presence of Smt. Jayanthi Ramaswamy, a prominent women’s activist, Smt. Akkamahadevi, Panchayat President and Smt. Rukmini, a women entrepreneur from the village.

On this occasion the students presented the intellectually challenged children, resident at the Trust premises, with winter clothes.

Earlier on a certificate course on costume jewellery making was conducted and the students were issued certificates.

DRINKING WATER

Pujya Swamiji Sri Sri Sri Dr. A V Srinivasan Drinking Water Supply Project

One of the unique charitable activities undertaken by the Trust is the provision of drinking water to lakhs of people in the drought-prone rural areas of Nelamanagala Taluk of Bengaluru Rural District of Karnataka

The problem of drinking water in India is acute. It is therefore appropriate that the Trust has taken the initiative for providing safe drinking water through the Water Supply Project, which has become a model for other districts in the State and the Country.

This project is unique in many ways. It is the first of its kind in the country in its scope. Secondly, it is the first project totally funded by a Charitable Trust. Thirdly, it was completed in a record time.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

As part of the Objectives of the Trust and based on the requirements of the village and surrounding areas, the Trust deems it fit to construct a home for the aged, the intellectually and physically challenged and their care givers.

The ongoing service activities of the Trust include:

Free dispensary and free medicines

Poor feeding on a periodical basis

Scholarships and fees paid to deserving students

During the academic year 2014-2015, the Trust has sponsored tuition fees of students from April till date for a total sum of Rs. 2,35,918.00

Free notebooks, school bags and examination pads are distributed to school children

Providing additional coaching and tuition to students (Standard 1 to PUC) of the village schools – both Kannada medium and English medium

Conducting free vocational training classes to women of the neighbouring villages

Conducting Primary Health Care awareness programmes in Ayurveda

Promoting sports and games among the village youth.

Providing facilities for sports, recreation and cultural development of the children of Arjunabettahalli and neighbouring villages – Cricket kit and mat donated to the village cricket team. A recreational public park with herbal garden for the village, along with play area for children is being developed by the Trust

Conducting environment cleanliness awareness programmes

Providing street lights to the village – streets lights have been provided at regular intervals from the village school till the Railway gate at Gollahalli, a distance of about 1.5 kms.

Development of village roads – approach road has been widened and storm water drains have been repaired, cleared and fortified and pipes have been provided to the village.
